How Effective is Mohs Surgery for Basal Cell Carcinoma?

In a retrospective case series, for BCC, the five-year recurrence rate has been reported to be:

• Primary: 1.7% for Mohs versus 10.1% for standard excision (Rowe,1989; Thissen, 1999)
• Recurrent: 5.6% for Mohs versus 17.4% for standard excision (Rowe, 1989)
